in the 19th century, families traveled great distances to reach their loved ones for the Holiday season. Upon arriving at their destination, the chilled guests were greeted with a glass of warmed mulled wine to begin the Holiday festivities. Pindar Vineyards is pleased to continue this tradition and share this mulled wine recipe with you.
  • 1 bottle Sweet Scarlett or Isabella (or other red wine)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup sugar (brown sugar ok)
  • 6 ozs orange juice (other citrus or apple juice may be substituted)
  • citrus slices and cinnamon sticks for serving

Combine all ingredients in a double boiler and heat until simmering, do not boil.  A small slow cooker may also be used set on high for 30 minutes and then set to low or warm.  Serve with a slice of citrus and a cinnamon stick.
